For parents

  • Triple P - Positive Parenting Program—provides parents with practical information to support their child's growth and development. Triple P is currently free for all Queensland parents and carers and includes a range of seminars, resources, an online course , group sessions and one-on-one support so parents can receive as much or as little help as they need, depending on their individual preferences and situation.
  • Tips for new parents—a good way to get started. Find out how to prepare for your baby’s arrival and look after its health and wellbeing in those early weeks.
  • Raising Children Network—a comprehensive website offering resources and information on parenting for children of all ages.
  • The Child and Family Psychology Clinic—a specialist centre operated by the Parenting and Family Support Centre at the University of Queensland. The centre offers help for parents who have concerns about their child's behaviour or emotional adjustment.
  • Parentline—provides confidential counselling for parents. Phone Parentline on 1300 301 300, from 8am-10pm, 7 days a week for the cost of a local call.
  • The Young Parents Program and Young Parents Support Program—offer parenting advice and practical support for young parents.
  • Austprem  - Austprem provides information and support for parents and carers of prematurely born babies and children. The website has a discussion forum where parents can share experiences.
  • Family Relationships Online - This Australian Government website has information and advice about family relationships. There’s a telephone support line and links to Family Relationship Centres in each state and territory.
  • Healthdirect Australia - Healthdirect provides health information and advice online and over the phone. The website provides links to health resources from trusted Australian organisations. Or phone 1800 022 222 and speak to a registered nurse, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • PBS Parents - This website has information and advice for parents about child development from birth through to the early school years.
  • Pregnancy, Birth and Baby  - This is a free, national, 24-hour helpline offering information, advice and counselling about all aspects of pregnancy, birth and your baby’s first year – phone 1800 882 436.
  • Reach Out – Parents Coaching - Reach Out offers free online coaching to parents and carers of teenagers. If you’re worried about your relationship with your teenage child, or worried about your child’s well being or behaviour, coaching can give you strategies to help. 
  • Playgroup Queensland – Find a playgroup near you, activity ideas, join Playgroup Queensland, start your own Playgroup, resources and news for parents.
  • One Place - a community service directory to help QLD families get the right service at the right time, from parenting groups and classes to domestic and family violence support services.
  • Talking Families – real stories from real parents, parenting can be hard and it’s ok to ask for help, ideas about who to ask and how to ask.
  • SMS for Dads - text messages with tips, information and connections to online services to your phone for dads on the go.
  • Kids Help Line – telephone and online counselling, help for kids, teens and young adults, and for parents and carers.
  • Kid Spot - parenting information in everything from pregnancy to school to health to nutrition, resources and stories.

  • Core of Life - Core of Life provides education about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and early parenting for adolescents.
  • Pregnancy options unplanned pregnancy and Family Planning - This webpage discusses the options for young people who are pregnant.
  • Queensland Youth eHub - This is your online space where you can have a say about issues that affect you. So join the conversation through forums, polls, crowd-sourcing ideas and feedback.  Register now!

  • Gay Dads Australia - This website has information and resources for gay men who are fathers or who want to have children.
  • National LGBTIQ+ Health Alliance - This is a national organisation Sspporting healthy lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans/transgender, intersex, queer and other sexuality, gender, and bodily diverse people and communities throughout Australia and the world, free from stigma and discrimination.
  • QLife - This is a national counselling and referral service providing anonymous and free LGBTI peer support and referral for people in Australia wanting to talk about sexuality, identity, gender, bodies, feelings or relationships..

For foster parents

  • Foster Care Queensland - Foster Care Queensland’s fundamental purpose is motivated by the desire to protect and care for children and young people who have already experienced harm or have been at risk of experiencing significant harm. Our organisational vision being ‘Leave no child in foster care behind’.
  • Create Foundation - This organisation represents children and young people in out-of-home care. The website has information on programs, activities and events run by Create throughout Australia. 
  • Pyjama Foundation - The Pyjama Foundation works to improve opportunities for children in foster care. It runs the Love of Learning Program in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria to help children in care with literacy and life skills.

For step parents

  • Family Relationships Online - This Australian Government website has information and advice about family relationships. There is a telephone support line and links to Family Relationship Centres in each state and territory.
  • Relationships Australia - Relationships Australia offers counselling, education programs, mediation services and other help for families and couples. This is the national website with links to the website for each state and territory.
  • Stepfamilies Australia - This organisation operates Australia wide offering family support services and information to stepfamilies. The website has links to branches in each state and territory.
